$70,197.00 - $105,295.00The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Serves as a key member of the Content Team within University Marketing and Communications (UM&C), reporting to the Director of Content. This role is responsible for leading and managing complex, large-scale, multi-channel content initiatives for the University’s integrated content strategies and flagship channels—including Rochester Review magazine, the News Center website, social media, and marketing campaigns.Applies a systems-level project management approach to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple simultaneous projects from initiation to completion and distribution. Ensures alignment with UM&C priorities, institutional brand strategy, and enterprise-wide goals. Oversees content operations, vendor management, and cross-functional coordination to ensure all deliverables are on time, on brand, and measurably effective.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Content Project Leadership, Intake, and Planning
- Leads intake, scoping, prioritization, and scheduling of all content projects across UM&C, including content, marketing, communications, and “One University” initiatives. Coordinates project scope, goals, success measures, and deliverables in collaboration with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Refines and develops processes, governance models, and workflows for content operations in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Maintains project management tools and calendars to ensure visibility and coordination across teams. Develops comprehensive project plans with activities, dependencies, timelines, resource requirements, budgets, and milestones.
Project Management and Cross-functional Coordination
- Leads complex, multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality content across print, web, campaign, and multimedia channels.
- Develops project plans with activities, dependencies, timeframes, resource requirements, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinates content projects and initiatives with partners and extended teams at the institution to align with UM&C strategies, priorities, and standards across owned channels.
- Tracks project progress; identifies, assesses, and mitigates project risks; manages competing priorities; and resolves barriers independently.
- Schedules and leads project meetings, ensuring clear decisions, action items, and documentation exists. Develops agendas, takes minutes, disseminates information at conclusion of meetings. Tracks and reports on updates, determines appropriate follow-up, and engages in follow-up to ensure actions items have been completed. Drives accountability.
- Develops and maintains reporting dashboards and provides regular status updates to leadership and governance bodies.
- As needed, conducts final quality check for team deliverables, ensuring materials are strategically aligned, polished, and best-in-class.
Vendor, Budget, and Resource Management
- Manages operations for freelance content creators, writers, editors, photographers, and other creative partners, including contracts, onboarding, and payment processing.
- Manages a defined project or program budget; monitors spending against forecasts and ensures compliance with University policies.
- Maintains list of approved freelance or agency support resources. Onboards, orients, and offboards freelance or agency talent. Coordinates and manages administrative requirements for this talent such as payments, paperwork, permissions, etc.
