This role is part of TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations.Special Mentions:
This position is part of Blue Origin's TeraWave business unit, a newly announced satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. TeraWave consists of 5,408 optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead the architecture, design, development, integration and test of electrical systems for the TeraWave satellite constellation, including electronics, harnesses, power generation, energy storage, and power distribution systems
- Develop and maintain Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documentation for the electrical systems of TeraWave satellites
- Drive systems trades, requirements, and electrical system architecture to support the 5,408 optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO)
- Supporting circuit design, simulation, and PCBA schematic capture for satellite electrical systems, as necessary.
- Develop comprehensive test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria for the electrical power subsystems of TeraWave satellites
- Author documents that define product testing requirements, operations lifecycle, maintenance requirements, and critical performance/requirements interfaces across the system
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and operations teams to ensure seamless system integration
- Drive DFM and DFA reviews with contract manufacturers to ensure manufacturability of electrical systems
- Routinely collaborate with manufacturing operations, supply chain, and other teams within the company to ensure smooth execution of the development efforts
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior electrical engineers
- Support system-level design reviews and contribute to risk mitigation strategies

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in spacecraft electrical systems design and development
- Experience with system engineering principles and processes for satellite electrical systems
- Demonstrated expertise in power system architecture, including solar arrays, batteries, and power distribution systems for spacecraft
- Experience with circuit design and schematic entry for space applications
- Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment (e.g., multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies)
- Experience in designing electrical systems for high radiation and/or space environments
- Experience with component and board level reliability analysis, part stress analysis (PSA) and worst case analysis (WCA)
- Experience with spacecraft avionics communications protocols (MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, Ethernet, etc.)
- Experience with EMI / EMI Testing (MIL-STD-461G)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
