Sr. Software Test Engineer (Cambridge, MA)Job Description
Sr. Software Test Engineer (Cambridge, MA)
Join our Clinical Integration and Insights team as a Senior Software Test Engineer, where you’ll champion advanced test automation and quality assurance for solutions that seamlessly integrate into customer workflows.
Your role:
- Build and own end-to-end automated regression for critical workflows spanning:
- Angular/TypeScript web UI
- C#/.NET APIs and backend services
- SQL Server-backed data flows (as needed for realistic validation)
- Establish and evolve the automation strategy (test pyramid, coverage goals, quality gates, runtime targets).
- Create maintainable test frameworks:
- Page-object/component patterns for UI
- Reusable API clients/fixtures
- Stable test data setup and environment readiness checks
- Drive automation into delivery:
- PR validation suites, nightly runs, reporting dashboards, and flaky test reduction.
- Partner with developers to improve testability (stable selectors, API contracts, logging/telemetry hooks, deterministic test seams/mocks).
You're the right fit if:
- You’ve acquired 5+ years in test automation / SDET work (or equivalent SWE experience with strong testing ownership).
- Your skills include:
- Web UI automation (Angular): You’ve built and maintained TypeScript-based UI automation for modern web apps (Angular preferred). Experience with Cypress or Selenium required. Playwright is a plus.
- API/service automation: You have strong experience with automated API/integration testing for backend services (REST), including negative/edge cases and contract-focused validation. Familiarity with BDD frameworks (e.g., Behave) and Gherkin syntax is a plus.
- CI/CD: You’ve integrated automated suites into CI pipelines (PR gates, nightly runs), and you know how to handle flaky tests, reporting, and fast feedback loops.
- Debugging across layers: You can troubleshoot failures across UI ↔ API ↔ database, and you care about reliability and maintainability over “green tests.”
- Nice to have skills that are highly relevant for the role:
- Experience testing integration-heavy healthcare systems (HL7/ADT concepts, device gateways, messaging/notification flows) or other distributed integration domains.
- Experience with Windows client testing.
- Experience operating in regulated / safety-critical environments (medical devices, IEC 62304/ISO 13485) or strong documentation discipline.
- You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent.
- You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
- You’re an effective communicator, technical coach, and team mentor, able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement.
How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
This is an office role.
