- Leadership: Direct and inspire multiple software engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Leading a team of 20-40 members
- Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive software engineering roadmap aligned with the business goals of Ambry Genetics
- Technical domain: Possess a deep understanding of front-end development technologies, back-end architecture design and cloud native services (i.e. AWS), so you can provide guidance and insight to teams.
- Scientific domain: Possess experience with germline clinical diagnostics, lab instrumentation automation and bioinformatics, so you can provide guidance to teams working on analysis and reporting applications.
- Innovation: Drive innovation in software engineering, staying abreast of industry trends so you can integrate these cutting-edge technologies into our technology stack.
- Architecture acumen: Architect and oversee implementation of scalable reference architecture for our systems, so they can be configurable to adapt to evolving needs of our customers.
- Quality: Implement best practices for software development, code review, ensuring compliance with quality, security standards needed for medical device software.
- Team development: Mentor, develop engineering talent, fostering continuous learning and career growth.
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience with LIMS and/or lab instrumentation automation projects.
- Experience contributing to a scalable architecture/design of existing and new systems that are highly available and easy to maintain and monitor.
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining highly complex asynchronous messaging and backend processing jobs.
- Practical experience and understanding of working with and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins) and test-driven development.
- Experience with OOP in PHP and JavaScript
- Experience with HTML/CSS development
- Relational database experience (example: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server)
- Experience with NoSQL based technologies (example: MongoDB, ElasticSearch)
- Ability to read and write a variety of structured/semi-structured formats (example: XML, JSON, CSV, TSV)
- Experience with AGILE and SCRUM methodologies
- 10+ years of experience in professional software development
- 6+ years of management
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Master's degree
- Experience with NGS LIMS systems integration
- Experience with frameworks such as Symfony v2.0+, AngularJS, ReactJS is a plus
