The Role at a Glance
We are seeking a passionate and driven Sr. Consultant, Product Owner to lead our Data Team. This individual will serve as the critical link between business needs and technical execution, driving data products and initiatives that deliver measurable business impact. The ideal candidate is a solution-oriented problem solver who combines strategic thinking, strong technical proficiency, sharp business acumen and exceptional stakeholder management.
In the Sr. Consultant, Product Owner role you will be a member of an experienced, collaborative team providing data-driven solutions for reporting, insights, and analytics. You will work cross-functionally with data engineers, analysts, reporting and governance teams, business leaders and technology teams to develop and deliver data solutions that inform decision-making, enhance performance an unlock new opportunities.
What you'll be doing
• Oversee the full lifecycle of data assets, from ingestion and maintenance to accessibility and optimization
• Develop a deep understanding of data product pipelines, ensuring data quality and enhancing data transparency
• Leading the implementation of improvements to our data platform, data models and exposed data assets
• Partnering with Product Managers and other stakeholders to define and own the vision, roadmap, and backlog for the data platform aligned with business priorities
• Prioritize and maintain the product backlog with clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and success metrics
• Coordinate with other Product Owners, stakeholders, and agile team members to manage dependencies and competing priorities and make strategic decisions under pressure
• Lead requirements gathering efforts to translate and convey the business vision and data needs into technical requirements and actionable data driven solutions
• Promote the data platform by effectively communicating progress, decisions, and changes to technical and non-technical audiences
What we’re looking for
Must-haves:
• 5 - 7+ Years of experience in Product Ownership / Management, Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Project Management, or other Agile-related role within a development team that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.
• Proven track record as a strong collaborator and communicator with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/ presentations.
• Business Acumen: A strong understanding of business needs and the ability to translate technical concepts into business language.
• Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and influence others, driving strategic initiatives and delivering tangible outcomes
• SQL Proficiency: Ability to retrieve and analyze data using SQL
• Strong understanding of data technologies (ex. Data lakes, warehouses, ETL/ELT, API’s, BI tools)
• 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
Nice-to-haves:
• Product Owner or other Agile certification(s)
• Experience working on customer-facing solutions
• Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
• Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail.
• Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
• Experience with Group / Employee Benefits product lines, such as Disability Insurance, Absence Management, Group Life Insurance, Dental/Vision Insurance, and/or Supplemental Health Insurance
