The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is the flagship academic medical center at the heart of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and includes the 789-bed downtown Baltimore campus and the 177-bed midtown campus one mile north. We are looking for a talented Senior Clinical Nurse I Acute Care Emergency Services and Surgical Oncology Service Line Coordinator to join our team here at the University of Maryland Medical Center.  

Job Summary:
The Service Line Coordinator is a professional leader who serves in a blended role of leadership and bedside nurse. The Coordinator is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient care. The Coordinator will work together with the Nurse Manager to facilitate, mentor and evaluate others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills. In addition, the Service Line Coordinator will continuously assess the OR needs to ensure adequate resources for current and upcoming shifts by collaborating with the Nurse Manager. The Coordinator will be prepared to assume the duties of the Nurse Manager in her/his absence. The Coordinator will hold team members accountable by ensuring adherence to appropriate federal, state and local regulations, Professional Standards, hospital policies, procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  1. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
  2. As of July 1, 2013 BSN or Conferred BSN degree required.
  3. Current CPR certification required.
  4. Relevant clinical work experience related to practice on the unit.
  5. Maintenance of 20 contact hours of education every two years.
  6. Member of a professional organization.
  7. Must be at least a 0.50 FTE.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Current and active specialty certification, OR o Current matriculation or completion of a degree or certificate program (Post-Baccalaureate or higher, 12 credits or greater) within past 24 months, OR o Formal teaching (submit signed “Approval for Formal Teaching”) within past 24 months, OR o Member of a professional association board or committee within past
