Registered Dental Hygienist

Description

Konza Prairie Community Health Center is seeking a licensed Registered Dental Hygienist with a commitment to patient care and a passion for promoting dental wellness. You will play a crucial role in providing high-quality oral healthcare services to our patients. Working collaboratively with our dental team, you will perform various clinical procedures and educate patients on oral health practices.

Essential Job Functions:

• Conduct patient screening procedures, including assessment of oral health conditions, review of health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting, and vital signs assessment.
• Document existing restorations and notable areas of concern for dentist review, initiating immediate consultations when necessary.
• Perform dental radiographs (x-rays) and assist in their development.
• Conduct calculus and plaque removal from all tooth surfaces.
• Administer nitrous oxide sedation and local anesthesia as needed.
• Apply preventive materials such as sealants and fluorides to teeth.
• Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies, including tooth brushing, flossing, nutritional counseling, and smoking cessation.
• Practice universal precautions and maintain strict sterilization and infection control procedures.
• Assist in making impressions of patients' teeth for study casts.
• Provide administrative support, including maintaining patient documentation, communication, and record-keeping.

Requirements

1. Current, unencumbered State of Kansas Dental Hygiene License from an accredited dental hygiene education program, required.
2. CPR certification for Health Care Providers, required.
3. Current vaccination record meeting ACIP Healthcare Workers Recommendations, required.
4. Bilingual (Spanish), preferred.
