Director of Operations/Assistant Coach - Cross Country/Track and FieldJob Summary:
The Director of Operations will report to the Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach. This Director of Operations/Assistant Coach will be responsible for administering all of the year-round activities and operations of the women’s and men’s cross country/track & field program. The Director’s responsibilities are restricted and defined by NCAA rules and guidelines and University policies. This position will work cooperatively with student-athletes, coaches, and athletic department staff.Full Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with day to day cross country/track & field activities allowed per NCAA rules
- Assist head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition
- Assist the coach with team decisions when necessary
- Manages logistics of team travel
- Serves as liaison between the Track & Field/Cross Country program and Athletic Administration including facilities, marketing and promotions, game operations, athletic training and strength and conditioning, nutrition, academic coordinators and media relations
- Manages day to day expenses and projections as it relates to the track & field budgeting process
- Work with coaching staff on coordinating all aspects of prospective student-athlete official visits, coaches recruiting travel, recruiting weekends, and overall recruiting coordination within NCAA bylaws
- Assist head coach in the identification and recruitment of potential student-athletes for the cross country/track and field program in accordance with WCC and NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines and standards.
- Manage social media content for program
- Work with equipment manager on budgeting/ordering/distribution of track & field equipment
- Assists in briefing student athletes and monitoring adherence to all rules and guidelines
- Maintains compliance with regards to all NCAA, WCC, and university rules and regulations
- Assists with alumni and community relations and outreach
- Reconciles complex travel and recruiting expenses for large group travel, domestic and abroad for games and recruiting purposes.
- Assists in coordinating team and recruiting travel for specific programs as needed.
- Other duties assigned by the head coach
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required
- One – three years of experience in track & field operations required
- Expert in the sport to help analyze team plans, programs & statistics required
- Coaching experience preferred
KNOWLEGDE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge and understanding of University and NCAA bylaws and guidelines
- Excellent organizational skills, self-driven, and great attention to deal
- Ability to perform under deadlines and handle a wide variety of projects simultaneously
- Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public
- The Director of Operations must be committed to the mission and values of the University of San Francisco
