The Opportunity
The Project Leader, Manufacturing, Science and Technology (MSAT) is a leadership opportunity for a cross-functional leader who has a proven track record of successfully driving projects from concept to commercialization. The Project Leader will collaborate closely with and provide support to the Head of MSAT. It is a high visibility role responsible for scientific investigations to ensure quality products are manufactured and commercialized.
In this role, the Project Leader will effectively lead the cross-functional team to drive Root Cause Investigations (RCIs), appropriately prioritize actions, and creatively remove obstacles. This role offers a unique career opportunity to leverage your background in product development, engineering, operations and project management.
You will be responsible for technical end to end ownership of MSAT and Operations projects in collaboration with the project lead, including responsibility for all underlying project management activities including planning (time, budgets, resources, quality), delivery of underlying work results, monitoring and tracking, reporting, alignment with involved functions within & outside the department; leading holistic root cause analysis for quality and performance issues
You will address functional needs, e.g., technical, regulatory, business and operational issues and will lead cross-functional teams with the help of subject matter experts and highly skilled team members from multiple functional areas within the company.
You will provide cross-functional team leadership to support investigations according to timeline, budget and specifications; you will oversee key suppliers, project management, Global Services Support, Regulatory, launch, and supply ramp-up.
You will lead development of scenarios and alternatives that can guide strategic decision making; you will decide on system development pathways in accordance with cross-functional evaluation and risk assessment.
You will approve budgets, timelines, risk mitigation plans, and resources.
This position is based in Carlsbad, CA.

Who You are:
(Required)
You have a B.S. degree in the sciences, engineering or other related field
You have 10+ years of experience in technical operations with a proven record of cross functional project leadership and excellent root cause analysis skills; and a deep knowledge of project management key principles and best practices
You have demonstrated success as a project leader (manager) or sr. project leader (manager) in the diagnostics space, including molecular diagnostics
Preferred:
You have experience and understanding of microfluidics, electrowetting and electrochemical detection
You have strong interpersonal skills: outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and influencing skills: has built and cultivated important relationships both inside an organization and externally, has proven abilities to influence internal partners and stakeholders, thought leaders, national advocacy organizations, national standard-setting bodies, and other relevant external parties; ability to seamlessly collaborates with colleagues/other parts of the organization.
You have demonstrated leadership skills in managing multidisciplinary teams in a global, matrix environment and have managed complex projects with ambitious milestones in high pressure circumstances.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
