What You Will Do:

  • Software development, design, and architecture.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, with consideration of appropriate style and industry standards, along with documentation.
  • Deliver assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner and take ownership of the product delivery.
  • Work closely with scientific subject matter experts, back-end developers, and stakeholders to ensure visually appealing, functional, and intuitive software.
  • Translate UI/UX wireframe mockups to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application
  • Develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain application in conformance to standards and industry best practices
  • Other duties as required.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 3+ years in Software Development
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model. Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles.
  • Experience building responsive websites using core web technologies of HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3/SASS
  • Strong experience with Jekyll themes, Liquid syntax, and building UI components leveraging U.S. Web Design System (USWDS)
  • Ability to work with JS visualization libraries, including D3.js, Chart.js, or Leaflet
  • Experience developing and using RESTful web services and JSON or XML objects for communication.
  • Experience with version control and collaborative development practices (including GitHub Action, pull requests, and code review) using Git and GitHub.
  • Familiarity with relational database concepts.
  • Ability to analyze someone else’s code and debug
  • Experience with Agile methodology, requirements definition, and Scrum practices
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience with CI/CD processes.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and exposure to Agile or iterative software design practices.
  • Experience with Cloud Solutions: AWS (S3)
  • Knowledge of data visualizations, design principles and methodology
  • Familiarity with web technologies: Next.js, Node.js, Ruby, and Strapi
  • Knowledge of 508 compliance
