The BW Converting Engineering Intern Program is available to all qualified students enrolled in a college curriculum related to the fields of Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering. As an engineering intern, you will be given the opportunity to learn all facets of manufacturing and are expected to complete the internship with invaluable skills and industry knowledge. Each intern works as part of a cross-functional team of engineers (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, and HPL) under the direction of an Engineering Leader. Engineering Leader is responsible for planning the activities of the intern and ensuring that the intern is a vital part of the engineering team. Each intern works closely with an engineering mentor. Together, the intern and mentor select a relevant and unique project that the student champions as part of his or her responsibilities at BW Converting. Our comprehensive product offerings include rewinding, laminating, printing, embossing, perforating and packaging equipment for tissue and towels; folding and Converting machines; and a complete range of flexographic printing presses and laser anilox cleaners, serving the flexible-packaging, prime-label and carton-Converting industries.

SUMMARY:

As an Electrical/Software/Computer Engineer at BW Converting you will join a dynamic and thriving original equipment manufacturing company to provide cutting edge solutions to a wide range of products. Our software engineers will work on projects to provide SCADA and/or MES solutions to better serve the needs of our customers across the globe. The scope of work can include anything in the life cycle of a project starting from definition and selection of a platform to development/debugging and onsite startup. Frequently this team is working on first-of-a-kind solutions to solve real-world operational problems for our customers.

                       

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Working as an individual or in a team on large projects with other engineering disciplines.
• Designing control/SCADA systems including databases and database interfaces, data analytics & reporting, scripting (VB, python, etc.) and general programming.
• Onsite start-up of systems that you designed and implemented
• Understanding project requirements in order to develop/configure industrial control packages accordingly for use in manufacturing space.
• Understanding technical and operational constraints to create project development and commissioning plans.
• Understanding of back-end computing infrastructure used in manufacturing (compute hardware, virtualization, OS’s, networking, databases, etc.) is a plus.
• Managing multiple scopes of work in various phases simultaneously
• Communicating with client stake holders to understand scopes of work and deliverables.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• 3+ years of System Integration, SCADA and/or MES application development. Candidates with experience in manufacturing are preferred.
• Degree in Software/Controls Engineering/Design
