About the role

Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with expertise in QuickBooks Online and a solid grounding in GAAP. This role supports daily accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records in a dynamic asset recovery business. 


  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and record daily financial transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoices and payment processing.
  • Process vendor invoices, including verifying approvals, coding expenses, and entering them into QBO.
  • Schedule and process payments to vendors via checks, ACH, or wire transfers.
  • Reconcile accounts payable ledger to ensure all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted.
  • Assist with 1099 preparation and filing for contractors.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and internal reports.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and accruals.
  • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and assist with depreciation calculations.
  • Collaborate with the team to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Assist with audits and special projects as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, customers, and other departments.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new team members or interns.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial data and uphold ethical standards.
  • Process payroll entries, including salary, bonuses, benefits, and tax withholdings, and ensure proper classification and reconciliation in the general ledger.
  • Coordinate with payroll providers to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts, including payroll liabilities, accrued wages, and benefits.

Requirements

  

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience, with demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with other accounting software is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

  

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with financial reporting and budget preparation.
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as SaaAnt, Bill.com or Dext.
