LEGENDS ATTRACTIONS
Global Attractions is the newest business vertical and is quickly expanding. Starting with One World Observatory sitting high above Manhattan at the top of the tallest building in the Western hemisphere and now expanding all over the world, the Attractions vertical brings together all of Legends 360-degree capabilities to develop unparalleled experience in one awe-inspiring space, featuring some of the most spectacular views and newest technology around the world. For each location, we operate the tour experience, ticket sales, hospitality offerings, special events, and sponsorship - all to elevate the guest experience at the top. Some of the venues include One World Observatory in NYC, The View at the Shard in London, Sky View Observatory in Seattle, Vue Orleans, Mercer Labs, Illuminarium Projects, and more.
ONE WORLD OBSERVATORY
Positioned at the top of One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, on levels 100, 101, and 102 – One World Observatory provides guests with unique, panoramic views of New York City, its most iconic sites, and surrounding waters from 1,250 feet. A customized guest experience complements the seemingly endless views - which evoke feelings of the City’s signature pride, hope and determination - including special interactive experiences and dining options, plus a sit-down restaurant.
In 2016, One World Observatory received awards and recognition from the Concierge Choice Awards (Winner: Tourist Attraction), Themed Entertainment Association (Thea Awards for Outstanding Achievement), TripAdvisor (Top U.S. Trending Summer Attraction), and Lonely Planet (Favorite Online Listing).
THE ROLE
The Director of Accounting is responsible for maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. They are, additionally, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and driving OWO's financial strategy and planning as well as overseeing accounting duties at other Legends Attractions properties. The Director of Accounting will have oversight of the accounting and finance functions. Furthermore, this position will monitor and analyze capital and operating budgets, including monthly financial analyses, monthly forecasting, annual planning, cash forecasting, and ad hoc business analyses. The role reports to the Managing Director with a dotted line to the Chief Accounting Officer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage Accounting Associate and AP Coordinator
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures
- Provide status on the financial condition of attractions by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data
- Manage all Accounting aspects of OWO as well as other accounting/finance professional Legends Attractions
- Ensure a timely and accurate month end closing process
- Oversee the inventory process and perform in-depth cost of goods analysis
- Analyze monthly balance sheet and P&L figures to prepare comments and expose performance trends
- Build solid working relationships with business and department leaders
- Manage all month-end activities including the preparation/review of journal entries and variance analysis
- Review and prepare month-end/quarterly/yearly financial statements and externally required financial reports for all attractions
- Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled with resolution to reconciling items
- Provide strategic advice based on analyzing trends in the operation and financial performance
- Assist senior management with analysis of information and prospective decisions based on information obtained from accounting and operating results
- Assist in the design and development of internal control procedures to safeguard company asset and the design
