JOB TITLE: SUBSTITUTE COOK

Salary based on experience and education level per TCBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.

TO WHOM RESPONSIBLE: Cafeteria Manager/Building Administrator/Director of Child Nutrition

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 
  • Valid Food Handler's Card and meet all local and state health requirements 
  • Have the ability to communicate, read, write, make basic calculations and follow written and oral instructions 
  • Have basic computer skills to perform tasks needed for communication (email) and reports (Word & Excel) 
  • Have the ability to manage time 
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the proper use and care of equipment used in a school kitchen 
  • Be in good health, average physical strength with the capability to lift large containers of food and supplies (50 pounds maximum)
 

GENERAL RESPONSIBIITIES AND GOALS:

 

Become acquainted with county and school policies and with the assigned duties, be interested in the school and in the welfare of the children, observe working hours, operating policies and all established local, state and federal regulations, maintain all lunchroom and kitchen equipment in a clean, sanitary manner, supervise the serving of required portions and meal components, follow all proper procedure, assist other cooks when needed, and perform other tasks as supervisors may assign.
