Purpose
Provide supervision of work crews engaged in the transport, loading, delivery, set-up, removal, and unloading of various materials, including equipment and salvage items. Responsible for job site supervision of a work crew to accomplish assigned tasks to ensure safety for people and property.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day guidance as a working team member alongside material handlers, actively participating in loading, transporting, and moving materials to support the safe and efficient relocation of materials across campus using UT Works (electronic work order system), and reinforcing safety and productivity standards through example.
- Drive university-owned vehicles, including box trucks, safely within a high-traffic campus environment, exercising constant awareness of pedestrians. Operate power and manual warehouse equipment to relocate a variety of materials.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with the customers, team members, and leadership. Adapt to changing priorities and help resolve client concerns in a positive, responsive, and solutions-oriented manner.
- Read, interpret, and update work orders in UT Works to ensure current and accurate data is available to the EMS team and client.
- Act as a resource to staff during daily operations by reinforcing safety, conduct, and performance expectations, modeling appropriate behaviors, and addressing minor issues in a timely and constructive manner. Immediately report all incidents, injuries, and concerns to the supervisor.
- Assist with lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying large items while actively monitoring the environment for safety. Assemble furniture when required.
- Guide and assist staff in completing necessary reports accurately and effectively.
- Attend and participate in team and departmental meetings.
- Other related duties as assigned, including working with other departments. Frequent overtime is required to support organizational goals and objectives.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Possess and maintain a valid Texas Class "C" driver's license. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days of employment. Three years of hands-on experience delivering high-quality, daily customer service while working in a moving and storage environment or warehouse, including moving furniture and equipment. Experience in a supervisory capacity. Operational experience with forklift and pallet jack. Working knowledge of smartphones, tablets, and apps for communication.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
