Polyurethanes & Construction Chemicals (PU&CC) has an exciting opportunity within the Business Finance team for a Global Business Finance Manager, located in Midland, MI. The preferred location is Midland, MI but other locations will be considered.

This role reports to the Senior Business Finance Director of PU&CC.  Candidates from the finance function with a strong analytical background and skillset should apply.

About the Role

Provides global financial consolidation, reporting and analysis for the PU&CC business group to assist not only Monthly Run the Business meetings with the Global Leadership Team but also serve as the key financial conduit of information across most strategic initiatives. Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices based on financial analysis and summarized actions plans through monthly material development. Provides reporting and insights for senior management to make business decisions based on quantitative financial performance indicators and clear relevant qualitative takeaways from business team input.

In this role, you will require specialized, in-depth knowledge and advanced expertise of Dow's finance function. Namely system reporting knowledge, cost flows, and business understanding. You will need to analyze and identify internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve results. You should be able to communicate difficult concepts to others and persuade others to adopt a different point of view through well summarized cohesive and concise levels of material.

It is your responsibility to be able to use sophisticated analytical thought and judgement to identify innovative solutions. You will need to be able to lead others to solve complex problems and potentially lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Your performance impacts business direction through the development of strategy and current operating playbook focus areas.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Receives roll-up of all individual businesses’ financial results and estimates in order to provide the final output of Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and Prime Spending and Pricing reports (Key Preparation of Monthly Run the Business Presentation)
  • Participates in monthly and quarterly closing process, providing the overall business analysis for the Business group, including following up on deviations vs. estimates and planning and coordination of closing activities throughout the different businesses and with the different Corporate functions (Responsible for running Income Statement and Balance Sheet Review process)
  • Drive preparation for key milestone events such as annual strategy week, quarterly earnings call, Board of Director meetings, operations team meetings and other ad-hoc events throughout the year
  • Lead the annual financial planning process to work collaboratively within the business and functional leaders to establish targets for the next calendar year
  • Has breadth of expertise in business finance or Controllers, and influences others to solve complex problems and explain results in clear and meaningful ways
  • Coordinates activities across the business finance organization to update results and report accordingly up the management chain
  • Conduct benchmarking to bring outside-in view to help support and shape Dow’s strategy development process
