About the role

Overview

The Cement Production Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of cement production to ensure safety environmental compliance, quality, and efficiency. This role involves managing production schedules, supervising staff, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations. This position reports to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all production activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety training and inspections for production staff.
  • Ensure that all equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
  • Ensure that all production teams have properly documented task training.
  • Ensure environmental compliance with operations with particular attention, but not limited to, emission targets and limits, proper reporting of CEM system issues, dust collector performance, fugitive dust generation, tire washing station, sprinkler system, ponds operation and levels and water discharge outfalls.
  • Supervise production staff, including training, performance evaluations and ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Facilitate effective communication between Lab and Shift Personnel to meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Directly coordinate the activities of all production systems at the plant including, but not limited to, raw mill, homogenizing silo, limestone reclaimers, kiln, cooler, clinker silo, finish mill, and cement shipments to meet marketing and inventory requirements.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Shift Supervisors and their respective teams.
  • Ensure accountability of Shift Supervisors and monitor and improve their performance and morale. Evaluate and assess the performance and effectiveness of all direct reports. Assist the Production Manager in the development and implementation of training plans for production personnel. 
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule regular maintenance and repairs of production equipment and finish mill samplers.
  • Coordinate and assist with special testing and test grinds
  • Coordinate with other departments (internal and external) to ensure timely availability of materials and troubleshoot issues across the department.
  • In the absence of a Shipping Supervisor, directly coordinate activities related to all services including raw materials, inventory control and cement shipping (truck, rail).
  • In the absence of the Yard Supervisor coordinate daily activities related to all yard operations.
  • Work with Maintenance, Electrical and Reliability Coordinators to plan and schedule major and minor outages.
  • Establish necessary spare parts and inventory stocking levels for production supplies and tools.
  • Ensure accurate and timely generation of downtime and production information and maintain quality of shift reports.
  • Assist the Production Manager in the development and implementation of equipment checklists – First level inspections and production operating procedures to include operating parameters and standard operating procedures.
  • Work with other departments, especially the maintenance department, to ensure daily operational problems are corrected in a timely and cooperative manner.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule regular maintenance and repairs of production equipment.
  • Identify areas for improvement in production processes and implement changes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure Cardox and High-Pressure cleaning equipment readiness. Maintain an up-to-date list of employee possessors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cement production or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to obtain Federal Explosive license permit.
  • Production Management: Strong understanding of production processes and scheduling. Ability to develop and implement effective production plans.
  • Leadership: Excellent team management and leadership skills. Ability to train, motivate, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Quality Control: Knowledge of quality standards and control procedures.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to identify and resolve production issues efficiently.
