Location: Remote role, US. Eastern time zone preferred but not required.

Do you love brand and visual communications as well as startups? As a Design Associate for the Founder Catalyst Program, you will help support the next batch of amazing early-stage startups, as they grow from pre-accelerator to accelerator level companies. You will have the opportunity to work with the incredible Techstars network of team members, mentors, investors, and advisors who are coming alongside startups with incredible potential. You will play an integral part in promoting founders and Founder Catalyst programming, helping startups hone their pitch decks, and gain exposure to the startup community.

It’s a chance to broaden your portfolio, grow your network, and get exposure to some of the greatest up-and-coming companies and teams in the country. Historically, many associates end up being employed by one of the teams or by someone they met during the span of the program. Many also go on to build or grow their own companies.

General Job Description

We are looking for dynamic creatives who love getting involved in different aspects of storytelling, design, and communications. From graphic design, to brand, to marketing and communications, you should be able to assess the needs of the companies and help create beautiful and impactful pitch decks, look book profiles for each company in the program, and promotional pieces for the program itself. You’ll be supporting a cohort of approximately 20 top caliber startups over the course of the program as well as other members of the Founder Catalyst program team.

This is a remote, contract role. Location in the eastern time zone is preferred but not required. Must be available to complete deliverables from October - December 2023. 

Roles & Responsibilities

• Meet with and assist all the startups within the current program cohort with the creation and refinement of their pitch decks with special attention focused toward storytelling, brand, and design.
• Create a startup profile for each participant in our cohort as part of a final look book that can be shared with accelerator teams, investors, and or other key stakeholders.
• Create a handful of digital or print pieces to help promote 2-3 in-person events throughout the program or to support programming as identified by the Founder Catalyst Program Lead.

Qualifications

• Knowledge that spans visual, graphic, and brand design. 
• Great understanding of content and how to translate it into various visual forms of expression.
• A refined aesthetic sense that can work in conjunction with or expand a company’s brand vision.
• Experience working in an iterative design environment including giving and receiving feedback.
• Understanding and familiarity of pitch deck design. Knowledge of or willingness to learn the typical components of a successful pitch deck.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional design experience, a BA/BS degree in a related field (communications, marketing, graphic design, etcetera), or an impressive portfolio that proves the needed skillset.
• A positive outlook, desire to learn and meet new people, ability to work professionally and enthusiastically with a variety of founders and the Founder Catalyst team.
• Excited to support diverse and underrepresented founders.

Range: $5,000-6,450 depending on experience and agreed upon deliverables.
