Senior/Principal Software Engineer, Game Console & Desktop

Are you passionate about games and gaming consoles? As a Gaming Console Software Engineer, you'll help build and support our application used by millions of users worldwide for gaming consoles and desktop platforms. You will work on all parts of the application, from SDK integration with all platforms, GPU & CPU performance optimization, and user interface development. If delivering the best experience to millions of users resonates with you, you'll be right at home within our growing Platform Excellence team. You will report to the Engineering Manager on the Console team.

You Will:

• Develop and support the Roblox client application for Gaming Consoles, PC, and Mac platforms
• Work directly with native platform SDKs to deliver the best possible app
• Optimize performance of our app for gaming consoles and desktops
• Implement new diegetic UI/UX features
• Work with Product and Design to ensure the product embodies the shared vision
• Use best programming and testing practices, write unit and integration tests
• Build the best features used by millions of users
• Take ownership of projects throughout its full lifecycle

You Have:

• 5+ years of experience in developing complex applications for gaming consoles, UI optimization, performance optimization, multithreading and memory management
• Proficient in modern C++, probably have some experience with or interest to learn Lua
• Comfortable using metrics and logging to analyze features and user patterns
• Shift focus and enjoy working outside your comfort zone
• You work with and inspire others around you, taking on task for the greater team

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.  All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.Annual Salary Range$267,720—$331,640 USD
