Project Accountant

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for project setup in accounting software and maintenance of contract terms, negotiated fee amounts, scope and task distribution, contract amendments, and client contacts
• Perform regular audits to ensure up-to-date documentation for accounting purposes and adherence to contract terms with clients and subconsultants
• Prepare client invoices and submittals in compliance with contract requirements and project schedule; maintain billing terms in accounting software
• Monthly coordination with Project Manager regarding WIP, Project Cost and Revenue Recognition; review project performance; identify trends that may indicate lowered profitability or potential need to discuss additional funds for the project
• Maintain contact with subconsultant contacts regarding invoicing based on contract terms and accuracy of submittal  
• Monthly reporting to management regarding Work in Progress, Revenue related matters, work at risk updates, and project discrepancies. 
• Assist with other departmental duties as they relate to accounts payable, client contract requirements, corporate reporting, audit support
• Collaborate with other members of the department on project accounting duties
• Take ownership of personal career development 

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• 2-year degree in accounting with 3-5 years of experience OR 4-year Accounting or related degree with 2 years of experience
• Experience in cost accounting or project accounting within the Engineering industry
