Job Summary:

This individual helps run our Project Management/Storytelling meetings, assigns teams to large incoming multi-disciplinary projects, and coordinates large expansive projects through to conclusion. In terms of skills and attributes, most importantly this person is a team player with an extroverted and diplomatic demeanor who enjoys working with people. This individual can lead meetings, speak publicly, take charge, handle diverse personalities, and keep a team working toward a specific goal in a timely manner. This individual can interface with clients and translate the client's needs into concrete tasks for the internal MarComm team. They must be deadline-driven with excellent organizational and time management skills and have the ability to work on a number of projects simultaneously. They have familiarity with marketing techniques and integrated communications that support brand-building. They have an interest in effectively telling the stories from within LSU to an external audience and they are focused on our overall communication goals of reputation, relevancy, and revenue. This candidate also possesses clear and concise writing, editing and proofreading skills. All of this is paired with strong problem-solving skills and intrinsic motivation. In addition, this individual takes special responsibility over print projects. They will be responsible for coordinating procurement through the LSU Office of Procurement Services on such projects, working closely with print/production vendors to obtain estimates and bids, and coordinating mailing and fulfillment for projects when required. Lastly this position also is the office point of contact for finding a new web-based project management/collaboration tool for our team to use.


Job Responsibilities:

30%- Represents Marketing & Communications at high-level university meetings when the Chief Communications Officer is unavailable and serves on various university committees to provie PR counsel. Writes content for letters, communications, emails and other correspondence on behalf of university officials for distribution to system and flagship constituencies including students, faculty, alumni, donors and others. Works with Trademark and Licensing and others on campus to review and approve case studies, movie scripts and television requests that involve LSU.


30%- Project Management. Lead the planning, coordination and execution of projects. Maintain a comprehensive project portfolio, monitoring the status, scope, and deliverables for each project. Regularly update and communicate project milestones, changes, and resource needs to the team and clients. Direct weekly project management and storytelling meetings to prioritize projects, address challenges/opportunities, and set steps for all stakeholders. Proactively adjust schedules and assignments based on project evolution and feedback. Document all changes and status updates in the current project management tool. Act as primary liaison between the clients and MarComm teams, translating objectives to actionable items.


15%- Internal Needs Assessment. Lead the evaluation and selection of a project management tool to enhance collaboration, project tracking and efficiency. In addition to ensuring accurate and up-to-date project record keeping as noted above, this entails communicating with LSU Information Technology Services for troubleshooting program settings to improve the tool's function for maximum efficiency, and when necessary, supporting individual and team needs and training across the office to support communication and transparency on office-wide initiatives, and to facilitate adoption of the project management tool.


10%- Design Projects. manage project delivery logistics between vendors and Marketing & Communication clients. Translate completed designs to templates via a web-based template tool, and facilitate client access to specialized templates maintained outside the web-based template tool.
