Job Description:

This full-time position in the LSU Coastal Ecosystem Design Studio will aid in community engagement and research in multiple disciplines (architecture, landscape architecture, planning, coastal sciences, engineering, and others and support multidisciplinary design studios by assisting communities to address the impacts of climate change. This position will require the ability to be outdoors from time to time, when leading or coordinating field research. Also, given the nature of community engagement, this position may require the need to work outside of regular Monday - Friday traditional office work hours, such as early in the evening or on a weekend.

Job Responsibilities:

Managing complex design research outputs such as natural and nature-based solution (NNBS) design scenarios based on ecological modeling frameworks, coordinating and leading community-based events; gathering and disseminating local knowledge about landscape functionality; conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis related to community wellbeing; researching and evaluating past events to support NNBS responses, strategies, and best practices; integrating adaptation design methods, best practices, and policy tools to increase implementation potential. (50%)

Consider future environmental risks, regional designs for NNBS related to risk reduction, multiple benefit considerations, ecosystem services and analysis of NNBS design. Work directly with research faculty, graduate assistants, and community stakeholders, while also conducting research to inform design decisions.  (15%)

Work on supporting multidisciplinary design courses, and assisting communities on ways to address the impacts of climate change. Work directly with research faculty, graduate assistants, and community stakeholders while also conducting research to inform design decisions.  (15%)

Coordinating partners for summer internship program, and synthesizing summer internship deliverables. (15%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree OR Bachelor's degree plus 2 years related experience in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, or a related discipline. Strong oral and written communication skills; the ability to work as part of a team, contributing to the intellectual environment of the LSU Coastal Ecosystem Design Studio. Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in specialized software applications, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, ArcGIS, etc., is a plus.  Additionally, background in urban planning, urban design, disaster recovery policies, urban environmental systems, etc. is preferred.

Additional Information:

This position will require the ability to be outdoors from time to time, when leading or coordinating field research. Also, given the nature of community engagement, this position may require the need to work outside of regular Monday - Friday traditional office work hours, such as early in the evening or on a weekend.  Must meet the University's minimum qualifications to operate a motor vehicle while conducting LSU business. Must have a valid driver's license.
