Outside Sales Representative

Star Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. delivers confidence through our products and our people. We are seeking a results-oriented Outside Salesperson to join our Building Materials team. This role is responsible for managing existing accounts while working to develop new business across a range of construction projects. This role works closely with the inside sales team, working as a liaison between customers, sub-contractors and sales staff. This self-starter will possess excellent communication and organization skills and the drive to achieve goals.

A Typical Day:

· Call on existing accounts to maintain relationships, sell and respond to customer needs.

· Continuous prospecting and developing new business accounts.

· Visit with contractors onsite to verify materials and provide assistance as needed.

· Review customer plans and complete material takeoffs.

· Execution of detailed monthly sales and gross profit goals.

· Maintain a high level of customer service through organization of tasks and responsibilities.

· Active participation in various new home builder and remodeling organizations.

· Build effective relationships with team members and key stakeholders.

· Monitor and maintain the status of projects through the building process.

Requirements

· 2+ years of sales experience or account management experience.

· Demonstrated work in growing new business.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design layouts.

· Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of customers, verbally and written.

· Ability to resolve conflict and manage difficult conversations.

· Knowledge of the new home building process and building materials.

· Valid driver’s license.

· Some evening and weekend work when required.

Preferred Experience

· Have worked with sales and profit goals in a commission based pay system.

· Experience with new home building, building materials and remodeling processes.

· Knowledge of Microsoft office, BisTrack and IOS applications.
