Be a part of the human resources team at Missouri's largest defined benefit pension plan. We are looking for an organized and motivated intern to assist the human resources team in ensuring we have a dynamic, top tier and supportive workforce at PSRS/PEERS.


Salary: $20.00 / Hour

About PSRS/PEERS

PSRS/PEERS is the largest defined benefit pension plan in Missouri with more than 315,000 members. We work in partnership with Missouri public school districts to provide retirement security for Missouri's public school teachers and education employees.

Most of our 173 employees work out of our office located on the west side of Jefferson City, Missouri. Our office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and many positions have scheduling flexibility within those hours. We provide state-of-the-art technology and security, with comfortable, ergonomic working spaces and collaborative areas throughout the building. Employees enjoy ample on-site parking and a flexible, family friendly work environment.


About the Job

PSRS/PEERS human resources team is a department with a variety of duties focused on allowing our dedicated professionals to be innovative and deliver exceptional customer service to the Missouri public school teachers and staff.

In this role you will have the opportunity to make an impact and contribute to real HR projects in an accommodating and collaborative work environment. You will work with the HR team to gain hands-on knowledge of the employee life cycle from recruitment to retirement, employee engagement, and HR administration. You will assist with the recruitment process, support new employee onboarding, maintain records, assist in organizing training sessions, and participate in HR projects related to compensation, training, and company culture.


Job Requirements

Our ideal candidate is a student entering or enrolled in college and pursuing a bachelor's degree or master's degree in business administration, human resources, psychology, or a related field.


Our Human Resources Intern should:


  • Be an outgoing, intellectually curious and open-minded team player who works well independently and in team situations
  • Establish positive working relationships with our staff
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have knowledge of human resources principles and practices, as well as the methods and techniques used for administrative organization an support processes
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Be skilled in preparing reports and presentations and maintaining physical and electronic files
  • Be skilled in the use of a personal computer and standard business software including Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience building or maintaining databases is a plus
