Description

The School of Community Resources and Development (SCRD) in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associate positions for the 2024-2025 academic year. Faculty Associates are part-time, adjunct faculty who are hired on one-semester, renewable contracts to teach one or two courses (not to exceed 0.40 FTE) per semester, either in-person or online.

Faculty Associate positions are fixed-term appointments that are not eligible for benefits, sabbaticals, or tenure. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.

For this position, we seek to attract an active, culturally, and academically diverse pool of qualified people who are available to teach in-person and/or online courses on ASU’s campus in Downtown Phoenix or online.

SCRD seeks candidates who will teach one or two undergraduate or graduate courses in Parks, Recreation and Sport Management and who is a content matter expert in the course topic area. The courses in the Parks, Recreation and Sport Management program include: Leisure and Quality of Life, Managing Leisure Enterprises, Community Recreation Systems, Outdoor Survival, Sports and Recreation for Youth Development, Public Lands Management, Wilderness and Parks in America, Program Planning, Advanced Programming & Facilitation, Assessment & Evaluation of Community Services, Sports Events, Community Sports, Facility Operations Management, Ethics and Legal Issues in Sports, Inclusive and Adaptive Sports,  Recreation, Tourism, Recreation & Sports Marketing and Sports Tourism. Job Responsibilities

The role requires someone who can deliver engaging in-person (and/or online) lectures, discussions, and content, contribute to the creation of assignments and exams, evaluate and grade student work, manage Canvas learning management platform, and hold office hours to assist students. Courses are developed and have been taught multiple times with a well-defined syllabus outlining purpose, content, readings, and assignments.  Local applicants may apply to teach either online or in-person courses.
