About the role
As a Total Rewards Specialist you will assist the Manager of Benefits in performing duties relating to the functioning of the Human Resources Department, specializing in the administration of various team member benefit plans, including but not limited to, health, dental, vision, short/long-term disability, life, retirement and the leave programs. Performs assignments in the administration of the Health System’s compensation program. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, DNV accreditation requirements, and national patient safety standards.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assists in the administration of the benefits program, including but not limited to, health, vision, dental, short & long-term disability, life & other voluntary benefit offerings, flexible benefits spending, tuition reimbursement, and the retirement programs.
- Maintains and updates computer databases and related files which may involve performing system interfaces.
- Acts as a resource to team members who may have questions and concerns regarding benefits issues.
- Works with insurance carriers on team member complaint issues; working closely with the Benefits Manager to handle any issues or complaints to resolution.
- Collaborates with the Benefits Manager to maintain an open line of communication regarding team member benefits.
- Ensures compliance with federal and/or state regulations.
- Assists with annual and monthly benefits projects, to include open enrollment, annual SPD updates, PTO cash-outs and other projects.
- Processes team member leaves of absence paperwork to include updating spreadsheets, entering time, and calculating and collecting missed benefit premium amounts.
- Performs biweekly benefits orientation and training as needed for the organization.
- Participates in salary surveys to obtain current data for job evaluations to ensure competitiveness in the marketplace, as well as analyzes and evaluates survey data.
- Reviews and analyzes job duties to determine job grades, classification, and market value for new positions, as well as requests for compensation increases, structure, and title changes.
- Acts as a resource for day-to-day total rewards (compensation & benefits) matters.
- Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales in UKG /HCMS
- Maintains job descriptions for health system. Ensure all are in the correct format and updated as needed.
- Enters changes into UKG computer system for comp and benefit team.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or a related field or some college and (2) years of human resources/benefits/compensation experience required.
Experience: (3-5) years of human resources/benefits/compensation experience preferred
Licensure: Human Resources industry certification (e.g., PHR/Professional Human Resources, CEBS/Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) desired.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of employee benefit programs and administration.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state benefits rules and regulations – ERISA, ACA, ADA, FMLA, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; advanced interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Must possess exceptional skills in the operation of personal computers and the use of all Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to manage / coordinate multiple projects, tasks and priorities simultaneously; high degree of accuracy is mandatory.
