Sr. Staff Software Engineer, Back End

Overview:

As a Sr. Staff Software Engineer at Fanatics, you will join our Fan Data Services (FDS) team focused on building and improving our customer loyalty technology capabilities that are flexible, scalable, and reliable to meet the needs of our Fanatics business partners. In this role, you will be responsible for building loyalty and promotions platforms across the Fanatics ecosystem to increase fans re-engagement.

Responsibilities:

• Influences business and technology direction in the team and across teams
• Works with multiple teams across the organizations and is able to lead architectural and design discussions and decisions
• Architectural solutions are exemplary in terms of robustness, stability, scalability, cost effectiveness
• Leverages data to drive decision making and improvements. Recognizes the importance of curating high quality data and software assets.
• Works in establishing strong privacy and security rules for the projects and reviews constantly
• Able to discuss complex technical issues at an abstract level with non-technical people
• Ensure various project stakeholders reach agreement regarding the future state
• Appropriately shares information outside of the tech organization and provides visibility to the team's work within a wider context
• Is the go-to person for Senior Leadership
• Sets the standard for engineering excellence
• Identifies risks in a project   
• Ability to allocate time to support multi projects that span across departments

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of programming experience in Java, Scala or C#
• Expert experience in both RDBMS and NoSQL databases
• Experience with GoLang is a plus
• Helps enable and establish services and products to take advantage of changing industry trends and opportunities
• Proactively seeks opportunities to improve ecosystems at an enterprise level
• Research and contribute to the latest industry standards and make proposals to prototype and implement those that are a good fit for Fanatics
• Is able to step back from a task and reassess size and complexity when appropriate
• Takes ownership of the quality of the solution or feature being implemented       
• Demonstrates competent problem-solving skills (e.g. debugging, analysis and instrumentation) in a context beyond code they've written
• Takes ownership of keeping technical documentation for their features up to date.
