The Member Experience Engineering team builds the web and mobile experiences that Spring Health members use to access care. We blaze trails with green field innovation, iterate rapidly on feature roadmaps, and optimize the experiences to reduce friction.
We are looking for an Associate Director of Engineering to lead a set of engineering teams responsible for Specialty Care experiences. Specialty Care is our program for treating members and their families with difficult challenges such as substance use, severe depression, trauma and eating disorders.
The role is full time, reports to the VP of Engineering for Member Experience, is full remote (or optionally hybrid if you happen to live near Manhattan), with travel opportunities at least twice per year for in person events.
What you’ll be doing:
- Owning development and delivery of specialty care product capabilities
- Applying your engineering leadership experience to implement best practices
- Improving engineering velocity and efficiency through investments in developer experience and talent growth
- Providing directional leadership and oversight for strategic product initiatives
- Managing a thriving team of Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers
- Contributing to the Member Experience leadership team and overall product strategy
- Prioritizing and sponsoring engineering initiatives
What success looks like in this role:
- A highly capable and thriving engineering organization
- On time planned deliveries and high velocity incremental deliveries
- High quality engineering output, in terms of both product and codebase
- Trend of reducing technical debt reduction and improving engineering excellence
- Great partner relationships in engineering and across functions like PM and Design
What we expect from you:
- At least some experience as a second level engineering manager
- At least 5 years of experience with Ruby, Rails, React, TypeScript and/or Flutter
- Track record of data fluency and objective measures of impact
- Track record of proactive and collaborative leadership style
- Track record of strong talent management and organizational health success
The target base salary range for this position is $190,000 - $232,500, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
