Your Career 

Are you a software developer looking to break into the security industry? It just so happens that we are searching for an innovative Software Engineer to join the Attack Surface Risk Team. Want to show off your awesome coding chops? Do we have the challenge for you — develop and own our team’s security intelligence big data platform. You will engage with multiple Information Security and Product teams to design, develop and maintain a security intelligence big data platform. This will require you to engage heavily with various product functions to deliver security data at scale to our internal partners. But don’t worry, we can help with the security basics. You just come prepared to dazzle us with your software magic at THE cybersecurity leader, Palo Alto Networks.

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong desire to find the balance between stability, features and time to market. Drive all decisions with data and be able to articulate outcomes at multiple levels in the organization (from stakeholders to associate engineers). 

Your Impact 

• Be completely at ease implementing and designing systems at planetary scale
• Determining project requirements and developing sprint schedules
• Drive alignment across Information Security and Product teams in a data oriented and transparent way
• Balance technology debt, product stability and features against a backdrop of go to market pressure
• Mentor and challenge associate software engineers to continue to grow in their discipline

Qualifications

Your Experience 

• Strong Experience with SQL and at least one Programming Language with Python or Java, Shell scripting, JavaScript, GoLang is a plus
• 1+ years experience with Kafka and related technologies like Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams or KSqlDB
• Experience doing automated unit/integration testing of software in Python and/or Java
• Recent hands-on experience with GCP (EX: BigQuery, BigTable, PubSub, Cloud Functions, GKE), AWS (EX: RDS, EKS), Azure (EX: SQLServer) or other cloud equivalents
• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability
• Passionate to learn, understand, and dissect new technology stacks quickly on your own
• Basic understanding of security concepts and practices
• Excellent deep-dive problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Education

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or equivalent training, education, and experience in information / cyber security, computer systems, IT, etc. or equivalent military experience required
