Job Description
AECOM Water is currently seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to be located in our Tucson, AZ office.
Under moderate supervision from senior engineers:
- Contribute to the civil design of flood control, mining, and closure projects such as leach stockpiles, evaporation ponds, tailing facilities, flood control dams, and CCR closures. Regional workshare projects provide opportunity for diverse projects, professional growth, and networking through the company.
- Generate layouts/designs and perform calculations/analyses for channels, culverts, headwalls, detention ponds, operating ponds, spillways, rock drains, check dams, and haulage/access/circulation roads. Designs incorporate erosion control, geosynthetics, and piping and pump systems.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS software), quantity/cost estimates, and alternative assessments.
- Prepare drafts of portions of technical proposals, reports, regulatory agency permits.
- Collaborate with geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineer.
- Provide periodic field support. This may include construction support (verification of design implementation, adherence to quality, contractor/owner engagement), site inspections, and geotechnical investigations. Also provide construction support from the office by adapting designs to field conditions.
- Create engineering drawings and visual aids using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Participate in client meetings.
- Demonstrate ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Train junior staff in technical software and engineering work.
- Execute assignments with a critical eye while applying standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-6 years of relevant project experience.
- Experience using hydraulic software programs.
- Civil3D experience.
- Project design and field experience preferred.

- Offered rate of compensation (Arizona locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The target salary range for this position is $75,000-$90,000.
