The Sustaining Engineer is the primary interface between Customer Support and the Engineering Teams. Roles performed by this position include Test Engineering, Reliability Engineering, and Sustaining/Support Engineering. This encompasses design and support of test equipment, troubleshooting failures, and recommending alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products and/or procedures.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze problem reports and provide engineering support on all priority issues identified by the program and customer support teams. This is based on engineering evaluation and customer satisfaction priority
  • Work with System, Software, Hardware and Test Engineers in defining and continuously improving our products as well as associated test environments (including ATP, Manufacturing) and production processes
  • Design, purchase and build equipment needed to support testing. This hardware may consist of cables, custom electronics, PC interface adapters, standard instrumentation, and custom test fixtures
  • Responsible for driving continuous improvement within all engineering realms. SW, hardware and system quality and identifying the root cause and preventive actions on all company products
  • Support obsolescence management
  • Provide guidance to fellow team members
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 3-6 years of experience working in a similar role
  • Aerospace background and understanding
  • Familiar with all aspects of engineering systems involving complex circuits, cables, power supplies, mechanical components and software
  • Operational understanding of Linux is desirable
  • Experience in designing equipment utilized in engineering and production test
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Proven track record in meeting project goals and objectives
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand complex systems & concepts
