The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:

 

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Temporary Accounts Payable Clerk at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday, day shift schedule.

 

Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Temporary Accounts Payable Clerk

 

Location

Hudbay - Copper Mountain Operating Company, located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

 

Summary

Reporting to the Controller, the Temporary Accounts Payable Clerk will provide full oversight of accurate and efficient processing all accounts payable transactions, processing payment runs, and supporting the accounting department in other duties.

 

Responsibilities 

• Receives and verifies invoices, processes in compliance with Company policies and procedures,
• Prepares weekly payment runs,
• Reviews vendor statements and processes credit card statements,
• Assists in month-end processing and expense accruals,
• Ensures that payments are processed in a timely and accurate manner,
• Investigates and resolves issues by following up with other departments and/or vendors as needed,
• Performs any other responsibilities related to the Accounts Payable Clerk role as required or as assigned by the department head.

 

Education & Experience

• Previous experience in Accounts Payable is considered an asset,
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures,
• Computer skills, should include ERP systems,
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to liaise with other departments as well as external parties,
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and IBM Maximo ERP is an asset.

 

Required Skills

• Self-starter with good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills,
• Attention to detail in all areas of work,
• Required to possess a valid driver’s license.

 

Working Conditions

• Frequent exposure to a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
• Frequent exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
• Frequent exposure to lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds,
• Rare exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as working in noisy, dusty, and wet environments,
• Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

 

Rate of Pay

$64K - $66K / annum.
