About the role
We are seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer in our Broomfield, CO Location. All employees should work at their assigned location; however, this role may offer the opportunity to work remotely 2 days per week, with approvals. Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a team of physicists, optical, and opto-mechanical engineers supporting the development of commercial and research systems for quantum computing
- Design, plan, develop, and refine opto-mechanical systems including active and passive beamlines, beam delivery, detection systems, micro-optic and/or photonic systems for producibility goals with stakeholders
- Participate in building, assembly, alignment, integration and testing of optical systems
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor’s Degree minimum
- Minimum 6+ years’ experience (advanced degree inclusive) with product, assembly tooling, or test equipment opto-mechanical CAD design for optical and/or photonic applications.
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
- Ph.D. or Masters in Optics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with Onshape or equivalent CAD system and PLM/PDM
- Experience with lens assembly
- Experience with motion control systems used for alignment of optical components using vision assist or active feedback
- Experience with materials and adhesives for optical assemblies
- Experience with FEA (modal, structural, and thermal)
- Hands on skills doing fabrication, knowledge of machining practices, assembly and test
- Experience in creating drawings and assembly processes for optical systems
- Experience working with polarization maintaining fiber and micro-optics systems
- Broad understanding of optical principles and practices and intimate knowledge and experience applying this knowledge to projects
