Job Description

Under the supervision of the Regional Sales Manager, the Associate Sales Engineer is responsible for meeting and exceeding the annual Account Management Team (AMT) bookings quota within the assigned sales territory.  Also responsible, through efforts coordinated with the AMT to perform all necessary and defined actions required to maintain, as it relates to sales and sales support measures, a 90% customer satisfaction rating.  Lastly in all interactions within Instron and with our customers is responsible for maintaining and reinforcing the position of the North American sales organization as a world-class organization.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Uncover Opportunities: Work closely (from your home office in the Pittsburgh area) with our sales team to identify and qualify sales leads, focusing on Western PA, Ohio, IN, WV, and KY.
    • Demonstrate Excellence: Conduct compelling product demonstrations and technical presentations, showcasing the benefits and customer value of Instron's highly differentiated products.
    • Craft Solutions: Assist in preparing and delivering competitive proposals that align with customer requirements and expectations.
    • Build Relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with a diverse customer base, providing exceptional support and promptly addressing inquiries or concerns.
    • Stay Ahead: Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to identify potential sales opportunities.
    • Hit the Road: Travel within the Mid-Atlantic Region to visit customers, attend trade shows, and represent Instron at industry events – you’ll be provided with a company vehicle and overnight travel is estimated to be a maximum of 35%.

    Qualifications

    What You’ll Bring:

    • Technical Acumen: A technical bachelor’s degree (e.g., materials science or mechanical/electrical/biomedical/chemical engineering), combined with 3-5 years of work experience (previous technical sales experience preferred, but certainly not required).
    • Passion and Ambition: A passion for technology coupled with a strong desire to learn and succeed in sales.
    • Customer-Focused Approach: A positive attitude that prioritizes understanding, anticipating and responding to the needs of customers, both internal and external to your department and organization.
    • Collaborative Spirit: Key leadership qualities, including flexibility, reliability, and are an effective team player and communicator.
    • Drive and Focus: Self-motivation and a results-oriented mindset, coupled with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
