Description
The Department of Periodontics at the Texas A&M University College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time, 100% FTE, tenure track faculty position, with appointment beginning October 1, 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and experience.
This position calls for an academic periodontist with experience in the conception, design, implementation, execution, and funding of clinical research studies in periodontics and implant surgery and evidence of research mentoring of graduate students.
This faculty member will participate in teaching at all levels, including predoctoral education, advanced education specialty programs where applicable while being committed to the development of the department through clinical and translational research and contribute to areas of service that support the mission of the department, school and institution. The successful candidate is expected to teach in various courses on periodontics, implant surgery, and research, and other clinical related didactic courses. The candidate is also expected to mentor graduate students in their master’s degree related research.

Qualifications
Required qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold a DDS or equivalent degree, an MS/MSc in Periodontics or related field or an equivalent degree in a related field, completion of a Certificate in Periodontics from a CODA‑accredited periodontal program, and Diplomate status with the American Board of Periodontology. Candidates must demonstrate a documented record of clinical teaching and mentoring, as well as relevant research and service experience.
Must be eligible for licensure by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
Preferred qualifications:
Candidates with a demonstrated record of clinical and/or translational research productivity, experience mentoring graduate students, qualifications in conscious sedation, and evidence of administrative experience and national level service.
