JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

We seek a research field technician to sample white-tailed deer during capture efforts. This position will support research efforts in Disease Management Area (DMA) 2 in south-central Pennsylvania in an initial effort to sample wild white-tailed deer for SARS-CoV-2 in blood and saliva. This project is also part of an effort in ongoing research to capture and GPS collar white-tailed deer for subsequent sampling for chronic wasting disease (CWD). The primary objective of this position will be to assist capture efforts, collect biological samples for disease determination of SARS-CoV-2 and CWD, and processing samples to send to diagnostic laboratories. The position will also be responsible for managing large GPS datasets, conducting population estimates using distance sampling with infrared technology, data analysis, and manuscript preparation, if interested.
