NPI Product & Project Owner
Big Ass BatteryAbout the role
What will you do as NPI Product & Project Owner?
Are you ready to be the driving force behind cutting-edge engineering projects that push the boundaries of battery storage systems? Do you thrive on tight deadlines, complex challenges, and moving mountains together? Then buckle up, because this might be your next ride.
As NPI Product & Project Owner, you will lead complex, multidisciplinary R&D projects from the first customer request all the way to series production (NPI). You’ll balance cost, resources, timing, and quality with confidence, acting both as a Project Manager and a Product Owner — taking full ownership of your product and everything that comes with it. You are the central point of contact for your product — the go-to person for any question, issue, change, or deviation related to it. Supply chain problem? Product question? Design decision? Cost challenge? It all comes to you — and you love it. You don’t just manage projects, you own them.
You connect R&D with the rest of the organization — acting as a true SPOC (Single Point of Contact) between engineering and all surrounding functions. Your scope covers the entire Product Creation Process (PCP), and you know how to turn fuzzy ideas into tangible, working products — within an organization that’s scaling fast and expects you to be hands-on and in control. You will:
- Manage multiple innovation and improvement projects in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (Software, MEGA, Test & Integration, Operations)
- Lead projects from initial request to final release for production, ensuring full alignment with our PCP (Product Creation Process) standards
- Act as the central source of truth for everything related to your product — across all functions, domains, and disciplines
- Build tight connections between teams — because you know people and communication make or break a project
- Take full ownership — guiding the project as if it were your own product and ensuring alignment with business goals, scope, and timelines
- Create detailed project plans that outline objectives, phases, resources, deliverables, risks, and key decisions
- Actively maintain project planning, track progress and communicate clearly with stakeholders on status, issues and next steps
- Be the linking pin between decision-making units (COO, CTO, Production Manager, and Team Captains) – ensuring timely and aligned updates
- Drive the transition from R&D to production with focus and presence – walking the floor, asking questions, and making sure sh*t gets done
- Anticipate delays or issues and act fast – you are the one who knows why things are off track and how to get them back on course
What do we expect you to bring to Big Ass Battery?
It won’t surprise you but we’re looking for people with positive energy! You should be pumped about joining a fast-growing company bursting with ambition. We’re looking for someone who brings seniority and hands-on experience in managing product development in a mechatronic environment. Someone who is senior enough to handle serious responsibility, but not (yet) looking to move into program-level portfolio management. You bring clarity, control, and confidence — and people naturally turn to you when decisions need to be made. You have excellent project management chops and the ability to take full ownership from start to finish. Most importantly, you own your sh*t — and you’re in control at all times. Do you check these boxes?
- At least a bachelor’s degree in preferably a technical direction
- 10+ years of relevant experience in managing complex projects towards success
- A proven track record in NPI and feel comfortable managing the full lifecycle from idea to series production
- Deep experience with mechatronic engineering projects from A to Z, in a hardware OEM environment
- Understanding how to manage time, cost, quality and people – and you know how to keep all four in balance
- A background in product development and generalist-level technical knowledge of mechatronic systems
- Knowledge of the PCP (Product Creation Process) and how to navigate it from concept to industrialization
- Hands-on approach – you don’t just manage from a distance, you get involved and stay close to the work
- Communicate like a champ; fluent in Dutch & English – miscommunication is not an option
- Someone who is always up to date, gathers information proactively and even hunts for it when needed
What do we have to offer you?
Besides a dynamic (yes we also mean sometimes chaotic) and ambitious environment, we offer a job where your ideas matter and you can truly make an impact! You'll be working with energetic and passionate colle
