What You Will Do:
As a Driller Assistant, you will be the boots-on-the-ground support for drilling operations, supporting experienced drillers in challenging outdoor environments. This role demands physical strength, endurance, and a willingness to get dirty. You'll be part of a team that values grit, reliability, and a strong work ethic, contributing to projects that require precision, toughness, and adaptability.
- Assisting drillers in the field with setup, operation, and breakdown of drilling equipment
- Handling and transporting field samples and equipment (routinely lifting 40-50 lbs)
- Navigating rough, uneven terrain in remote locations
- Working in hot summers, cold winters, and everything in between
- Traveling overnight for out-of-town assignments as needed
- Occasionally working outside of standard business hours
This role requires extensive, continuous travel as a core part of the job. Assignments are based at project sites rather than a fixed location, with frequent time away from home; hotel accommodations and per diem are provided. Work is performed outdoors in physically demanding, dirty, and unpredictable environments, and project schedules and locations regularly change based on operational needs.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma/GED
- Certifications/Licensures:
- Commercial Driver's License, a plus
- Key Competencies:
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work in physically demanding conditions
- Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
- The knowledge and ability to perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with:
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise
