Ready to join NGA’s Foundational Engineering Division to (1) drive configuration management of NGA’s internal and Joint Agency GEOINT baseline (e.g., Requirements, Interfaces, Effectivities, Milestones) to advance delivery of GEOINT Mission capabilities; (2) develop expertise related to configuration / baseline management processes and tools; (3) help modernize NGA enterprise configuration management (e.g., increased digitalization, dashboards, integration with Digital Engineering); and (4) gain broad exposure to NGA and Mission Partner systems, services, and organizations?
We are looking for a Mid-level Systems Engineer to join our dynamic, fast paced NGA Configuration Management Team to support the management of NGA’s complex enterprise GEOINT baseline, with multiple Joint Agency interfaces. You will provide a variety of configuration management services, to digitally manage the NGA enterprise GEOINT baseline, ensure adherence to NGA’s configuration management practices and procedures, support NGA and Joint Agency configuration management boards, and ensure thorough end-to-end coordination of baseline impacts and changes. You will build effective relationships across Government Organizations to ensure a coordinated enterprise baseline to deliver IC missions.
Working with your Configuration Management Team Leadership, you will help generate solutions through Enterprise-level architectures. Define and assess Requirements using Capabilities, Epics, and Features. Assess Roadmaps. Participate in Joint/Enterprise Milestone Events. Execute Enterprise Governance and Configuration Management processes. Work hands-on with Digital / Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Tableau). Your systems engineering ensures enterprise services and organizations work together in an integrated fashion to deliver mission capabilities and solutions.
Duties include (but are not limited to): Working with Configuration Management Team Leadership and Senior Configuration Management Engineers to guide and mentor you:
- Support the end-to-end process for NGA and Joint Agency Requests for Change (RFCs), from origination to Configuration Control Board final approvals
- Assist with the formal cross-Agency coordination processes for Mission Partner-oriented RFCs. E.g.,
- Leverage digital tools to execute queries and monitor for NGA-related items (e.g., New RFCs of Modification Packages)
- Digitally populate configuration management records in NGA’s Baseline Management System (BMS)
- Perform Quality Assurance checks and first level analysis of items for NGA impacts
- Coordinate and orchestrate hand-offs with other Configuration Management teams
- Support coordination and facilitation of the Joint Configuration Management Working Group (e.g., Calendar Invite, Agenda, Pre-Review/Assessment Coordination, Generate Reports, Meeting Facilitation)
- Participate in Mission Partner Engineering Review Boards and author “Quick Look” reports of the results
- Participate in NGA Configuration Management Forums and Boards, to include Monthly Agenda Scrub, Engineering Review Board, Configuration Control Board. Pre-meeting, review presentations for quality and consistency and coordinate required updates with Briefers. Capture meeting meetings
- Help coach program managers, engineers, and others on NGA and Joint Agency Configuration Management processes
- Help to continuously modernize NGA and Joint Agency Configuration Management processes, expanding adoption of digital practices and tools and aligning to NGA’s transformational priorities (e.g., Agile at Scale, Microservices)

BS 8-10, MS 6-8, PhD 3-5
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering or in related technical or scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program.
- Additional 6 years of experience as a Systems Engineer will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Mid-level working experience in government or industry in relevant work areas including: DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, PPBES Process or system engineering of large complex System of Systems or Service Oriented Architecture/Cloud environments.
