About Roam

Roam is the platform for purchasing a home with an assumable low-rate mortgage, with seed funding from Founders Fund and other institutional investors.  Our mission is to make homeownership 2x more affordable for 1mm Americans by 2030. We see Roam as the rails for a new system that will process the largest purchase of our lives and be able to adapt to any economic environment. 

We are in the middle of the largest dislocation in economic history, a time that begs for bold solutions, not incremental ones. While US real estate is the largest, and arguably most important, asset class - most real estate startups take an incrementalist approach and never break through the clutter. Our team takes a fresh perspective on the largest transaction in a consumer’s life, made possible by the largest dislocation in economic history at a time that begs for a fresh solution to affordability.

How we do it

We provide consumers with a 3rd option when they buy a home: cash, mortgage, or Roam.

Our first product helps homebuyers wind back the clock and purchase their home with a low-rate mortgage included. We facilitate this experience with the mortgage assumption, a home loan that allows the homebuyer to take over the existing mortgage terms from the seller, reducing their monthly payments by up to 50% and closing costs by up to 75%.

About the role

We’re seeking analytical and scrappy teammates to join our business operations team. In this role, you’ll be the glue between functions to ensure customers have a great experience and the team doesn’t operate in silos. You must have an extremely strong ability to break down walls and glass sliding doors. If you’re successful in this role we’d expect the following 

• After 3 months with Roam you will…

  • Get up to speed on the business, trajectory, and team. By now, you know the ins and outs of Roam.

  • Explore and implement automation. You’ll decide what computers should do and what people should do. We support buyers, sellers, and agents who lack experience in assumptions by ensuring they look good to their clients through our concierge service. To do this, we want to minimize how many interactions they must have to coordinate a transaction process through close. You’ll work with our Head of Ops to identify where to invest in automation and where to lean into personalization. This will continue, of course, throughout your time with Roam.

  • Build our CX infrastructure: We’re going to scale quickly to serve customers around the country. You’ll work with our team to set the foundation so we can hire 10 teammates, then 100, without losing a step on our ability to execute. 

• After 6 months you will…

  • Own experimentation. You’ll start this day one, but we’ll want to test new ideas with our no-code tools before we ship them in code. You’ll be at the frontier of testing new ideas before we build them, synthesizing your insights, and reporting to Leadership on what you have high confidence in for us to productize.

  • You’ve launched several tools that allow us to move more quickly in our workflows and processes, that also enable us to not have to rely on engineering to move forward with new projects. 

About you

• Come with experience. You have 2+ years experience at a high-intensity startup and maybe have a background in real estate. You’ll need to be comfortable with technology and know how to build with no-code tools. You’ll need to be a strong operator and cross functional leader and communicator. Your role will be to think through new processes for Roam and implement those processes - while automating every part that can be automated. 

• Cross functional partner. You’re an expert managing stakeholders and working across teams. You build strong relationships and collaborate well with everyone at Roam. You’re relied on by our CX, Product, Operations, and Engineering teams.
