Primary Function
A. O. Smith Corporation, a global leader in water heating and water treatment solutions, is in search of a Social Media & Communications Intern at our World Headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, located at 11270 W. Park Place. This is an immediate position. The candidate will join the company’s Corporate Communications team on-site, assisting with efforts related to the company’s social media, earned media and internal communications efforts outlined below. A. O. Smith (NYSE: AOS), named one of Milwaukee’s Best Places to Work in 2023 by the Milwaukee Business Journal, is a $3.8 billion organization with 12,000 employees worldwide. This is a part-time position (up to 30 hours/week).
Responsibilities
- Manage A. O. Smith’s social media presence by engaging with and growing the company’s social community.
- Work with the Corporate Communications team to brainstorm content, develop monthly social calendars and draft channel-appropriate assets for LinkedIn, Facebook, X and Instagram.
- Engage in daily social listening and monitoring using the company’s social platform, Sprout Social. Provide timely customer response/resolution.
- Design basic corporate materials, social graphics, digital and print advertising, and marketing materials.
- Learn the company’s brand guidelines and tone of voice and incorporate into social content, writing assignments and design projects.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Communications team on the development and distribution of company materials, including news releases and contributed articles and work into the social rotation when appropriate.
- Assist in internal communications by drafting intranet articles and supporting companywide awards program communications.
- Assist with events and activities relevant to our 150th anniversary celebration in 2024.
Qualifications
- College junior or senior with a planned major in Journalism, Advertising, Media Studies, Marketing, Design & Visual Communications or a related field
- Knowledge of social media platforms and industry trends
- Basic design skills using Adobe Express, Canva or a similar platform
- Experience managing or creating social media content for a B2B company is a plus
- Demonstrated writing experience (writing samples recommended)
- Basic knowledge of AP Style
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
