Fairview Hospital's Postpartum Mother/Baby unit cares for mothers and their new infants by providing education and coordinating a simple transition to home. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.
This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working varying shifts between 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
External applicants: two years of recent related nursing
Internal applicants: less than two years of experience, but post-orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
Military RN experience considered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
OB experienced RN
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
