Are you an innovative and highly motivated Laboratory Operations Scientist with a background in managing laboratory logistics and primary cell samples? If so, AstraZeneca is looking for you to join the Immuno-Oncology Discovery team in Waltham, MA. This is your chance to be a key member of a team focused on supporting projects through the drug discovery process. You will bring your experience in supporting the operational capacity of biologics focused groups to ensure multiple teams maintain delivery on pipeline programs focused on impacting patients’ lives.

Accountabilities:

In this laboratory-based position within the Immuno-Oncology Discovery group, you will be responsible for general operational requirements of an integrated group working on novel drugs ranging from cell therapies to immune engagers. You will be the focal point for the acquisition, storage, and maintenance of a diverse bank of human biological samples (HBS) and ensure that this bank is compliant with internal AZ requirements. You will also serve as the focal point for internal laboratory logistics of the team as well as the point of contact for external vendors. Interpersonal interactions are essential for this role. As a highly organized, self-motivated individual with a strong lab/practical background, you will be stringent in ensuring compliance while understanding that the diversity of individuals’ and projects’ needs may require different paths to success. The ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, matrix structured work environment is highly valued.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in broad laboratory operations, ideally with a team that is focused on biologics and/or cellular therapies
  • Strong background in Microsoft Office and associated applications as they apply to laboratory operations.
  • Understanding of the practical requirements for maintaining a laboratory focused on cellular editing/engineering and biologics engineering.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and collaboration skills together with evidence of having used these to support problem solving and delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • 6 months experience in pharma/biotech.
