Position Summary

Dr. Gomez-Lopez’s research is primarily focused on the immunological pathways that lead to obstetrical disorders, with the goals of improving the understanding of the mechanisms of disease and of developing methods for the early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of pregnancy complications, with an emphasis on preterm birth. Successful candidate will also participate in translational efforts in this area. Applicants with a strong background in molecular biology, single-cell technologies, and in using rodent models are encouraged to apply.

Position is responsible for collaborating with the Principal Investigator on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with PI on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects.
  • Participates in implementing animal-based research objectives, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and protocol guidelines.
  • Collects and log laboratory results, research outcomes and/or survey data. Evaluates and performs data analysis using graphs, charts, or tables to highlight the key points of the research results collected in accordance with the research protocols as stipulated. Organizes and edits research data and documents to ensure accuracy.
  • Assists with grant preparation and reporting. May submit grant proposals in rare circumstances with the approval of the PI, Department Head and Dean.
  • Prepares and submits papers on research.
  • Develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
  • Complies with established safety procedures and maintaining required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Manages research project with other institutions and investigators.

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards.
  • Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

$63,400.00 - $115,000.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
