What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.  New hires are typically brought into the organization between $28.87-$35.00/hourly based on experience and education. The City and County of Denver has announced furlough days, or unpaid days off, for most employees to meet a budget shortfall in 2025. There are two fixed furlough days for all limited (temporary positions with an end date) and unlimited (permanent) employees on August 29th, the Friday before Labor Day, and November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving. If you receive an offer for this position, your annual pay will determine whether you are required to take additional furlough days. Details will be discussed during the offer process for selected candidate(s).

Location & Schedule

In this position you can expect to work on site at Denver International Airport (parking is provided)

  • Shifts consist of four (4) 10-hour days

  • The primary shift will be discussed in interview and can be any of the shifts listed below.

  • Shifts are yearlong commitments and are subject to change based on operational need.

    • Day Shift:  0500--1530 (5:00 AM--3:30 PM)

    • Swing Shift: 1430--0100 (2:30 PM--1:00 AM)

    • Graveyard Shift: 1930--0600 (7:30 PM--6:00 AM)

  • Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to change

  • Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If staffing challenges occur, weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees will be required to work extended hours and/or alternative shifts (includes nights, weekends, and holidays)

  • Participates in mandatory snow removal duties

The Denver International Airport Facilities Maintenance Team is looking for a Maintenance Carpenter. In this position you will perform skilled carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, repair and alteration of building structures and facilities while following recognized procedures and techniques of the carpentry trade. You will also use hand and power tools such as saws, hammers, chisels, levels, drills, presses, sanders, table saws, joiners, planers, wood lathes, mortising machines and related carpentry tools.

As a Carpenter, you can expect to:

  • Repairs/maintains building Components - walls, doors, seating, windows, ceiling, CMU block, counters, cabinets, flooring, and other fixtures and many different roofing systems within the facilities.

  • Installation of metal, wood framing, and drywall.

  • Uses blueprints and drawings during construction and maintenance of facilities.

  • Operates and maintains construction equipment, laser levels, hand drills, woodworking machines such as band saw, mortise, drill press, power saw, joiner, shaper, wood lathe and other related power and hand tools.
