• Changing the Future of the Inpatient Acute Rehab Unit : The Inpatient Acute Physical Therapy department serves patient populations including: General Medicine, Neurology, Cardiothoracic, Emergency Department, Orthopedics, Trauma, Neurosurgery, ICUs, Transplants including heart, lung, liver, kidney and abdominal, Oncology and much more. Inpatient Acute Physical Therapy team members serve on the front lines with opportunities to:

Relief staff members are required to work a minimum of 13 days/ 104 hours per quarter based on fiscal calendar (9/1 to 8/31). Of these, 8 days/64 hours must be weekend days, and at least 2 of the 8 weekend days must be Sunday, with the exception of speech-language pathology relief. Weekend shift hours must be a minimum of 6 hours. A minimum of 3 days/24 hours must be during the week. All the above requirements must be satisfied to comply with this policy. If a relief staff member is unable to comply with this requirement for a given quarter, exceptions may be granted based on management’s discretion.

A Brief Overview
The Physical Therapist I is an entry level therapist who performs routine patient care and is responsible for all clinical aspects of assigned patient care, including evaluation and treatment, with supervision as needed. The Physical therapist I is proficient in providing basic clinical care, however is expected to seek guidance from and collaborate with senior physical therapists when evaluating and developing treatment plans for complex cases with multiple diagnoses or who have multiple treatment options. Proficient evaluating all patients assigned and developing a treatment plan which is agreed upon by physician, patient and/or caregiver. Provides physical or corrective rehabilitation or treatment of any physical condition to achieve and maintain highest functional level, including use of physical, chemical and other properties of heat, light, water, electricity, sound and massage, gait and transfer training, and active, passive and resistive range of motion/exercise. May function as CI and/or oversee/guide patient care responsibilities of Physical Therapy interns, Physical Therapy Assistants and duties of Rehabilitation Aide. May contribute to program development, performance improvement and other specialized programs.
