The Incoming Quality Inspector for Production does line assembly inspection and sub-assembly inspection by performing repetitive dimensional, electrical, or mechanical inspection procedures. Visually check piece parts, units, sub or final assemblies by following standard processes, some simple adjustment of electrical test sets may be performed following prescribed procedure and instruction. This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager in Production.
What a Day Looks Like:
- Inspect circuit card & wiring harness assemblies in accordance with IPC 610, IPC 620 and soldering standard IPC-JSTD-001
- PWB and panel inspection.
- Inspection of electrical components (resistors, capacitors, IC’s, transistors, diodes, crystals, coils, inductors, and relays).
- Final QA or Receiving Inspection, using a variety of measuring tools including electrical test sets, multimeter, fixed, limit, plug-gages, steel rules, scales, micrometers, calipers, and surface plate.
- May subject parts, assemblies and purchased components to rigorous dimensional analysis to confirm conformance to required tolerances.
- Some degree of judgment may be required to determine inferior material or workmanship, but instructions and/or partially prescribed procedures should be followed.
- May perform physical tests on materials using hardness tester, profilometer, durometer, tension tester, etc. to verify conformance to required tolerances.
- May reference blueprints, interpret dimensioning shown and review inspection results against engineering and customer expectations.
- Complete respective paperwork/documentation.
- Enter/extract data in computer and use of a bar code scanner.
- Incoming material inspection.
- Overall work is supervised and frequently checked.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Prefer a candidate to have a general understanding of ISO and AS9100 requirements
- Prefer a minimum of 2 years’ experience performing inspection of electronic components and solder joints, bonding, conformal coating and wiring on circuit card assemblies (CCA’s).
- Must possess good math fundamentals, comprehend written work instructions, and communicate well.
- Interpret simple and complex parts of assembly drawings.
- Ability to use GO/NO GO, direct and fixed gauges, scales, micrometers, direct reading electrical test sets.
- Must demonstrate ability to meet minimum requirements of eye test and color recognition test.
- Final training will be assessed by the quality supervisor/designee during introductory period on the job.
- Must maintain certification to ESD Precautions Standards as required by facility.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain IPC-JSTD-001, IPC610 and IPC620 certifications
