At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI on a full-time basis.

The Role

We are seeking an Engineering Maintenance and Technical Support Technician to work in several teams, where you will demonstrate your knowledge, skills, and ability to learn with a nominal amount of cross-training. More experienced candidates will assume responsibility for the majority of project-related work, rather than contributing to individual portions of a job, and will have the opportunity to mentor other technicians. These technicians can expect to work across various areas of the lab, with responsibilities that typically include troubleshooting test cell systems and equipment, calibrating instrumentation, and performing preventive maintenance. The team is focused on minimizing downtime to maximize efficiency while driving continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

Instrumentation & Equipment Technicians will work in one or more of the following areas:

  • Troubleshooting and repair of all systems and components that make up the test cell facility, including drive systems, fuel systems, emissions analyzers, dynamometers, pumps, heaters, heat exchangers, motor vibration data collection equipment, filters, cell transducers, and wiring systems.

  • Installation, calibration, setup, and troubleshooting of exhaust gas emissions measurement equipment.

  • Performing preventive and predictive maintenance on test cell equipment and systems.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in an electrical-related field (circuit-level electronics, machine controls and maintenance, high-voltage systems, commercial electrical work, etc.) and/or related certifications; bachelor's degree preferred

  • 3+ years of hands-on electrical and/or mechanical experience with demonstrated technical capability

  • Familiarity with the systems and equipment referenced above

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across a broad range of electrical and mechanical systems

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in an electrical-related field (circuit-level electronics, machine controls and maintenance, high-voltage systems, commercial electrical work, etc.)

5+ years of hands-on electrical and/or mechanical experience with demonstrated technical capability
