Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Senior Planner to execute and oversee community-based urban planning, economic development, and design projects, providing expert analysis to management, production, and other planning staff.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

·       Performs advanced professional work related to a variety of planning assignments.
·       Evaluates and analyzes the impacts to communities and projects related to community development, urban design, placemaking and economic development.
·       Provides guidance on and prepares application for grant and financing options in support of planning and engineering efforts.
·       Researches and explains county, state, and federal regulations related to environmental quality, social equity, economic and sustainable development, and comprehensive planning. 
·       Executes technical and field research to gather data for controversial or complex projects.
·       Ensures that tasks performed are completed in accordance with contractual timelines and quality.


 

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree Planning, Geography, Economic Development, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Life Science, or related field. 
• Minimum five (5) years of professional work experience in land use planning, urban design, or economic development; OR an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education is required.

 Preferred Education and Experience

•  Master’s degree Planning, Geography, Economic Development, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Life Science, or related field.
• AICP certification, or eligibility to become AICP certified, is preferred.

Other Knowledge and Skills

• Thorough understanding of field and technical research practices. 
• Ability to read engineering drawings and sketches.
• Ability to make independent decisions, prepare narrative reports, and act as a liaison between department and regulatory agencies.
• Ability to develop and maintain working relationships and informally negotiate with other departments, offices, outside entities, and private consultants.
• Working experience with GIS and 3D modeling programs such as ArcView, QGIS, 3D CAD, Sketchup, or similar programs.
