Scope of this role
The Customer and People Project Manager is a critical member of Nielsen’s Operations and Transformation team. The Project Manager is responsible for leading teams to deliver the project(s) across one or more business units. Manage resources, schedules, and project plans for the program/project life cycle. This also includes managing issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. Contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery. The Project Manager has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis. Verify that the project produces the required quality deliverables within the specified time and cost constraints and achieves the potential benefits defined in the business case.

What You'll Do

  • Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
  • Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and chairs the project management team meetings
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership
  • Manage project scope and changes
  • Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues
  • Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverable with team members and stakeholders
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project and program team
  • Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards
  • Day to Day:
  • Project management of complex, cross functional marketing projects working with marketing strategy leads
  • Liaising with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis to drive strategy, timelines and feedback
  • Working with and leading project management team to come up with organizational efficiencies and improve process especially involving communication between teams, and holistic intake methods  Reviewing incoming and outgoing work to ensure it’s done to brief, on brand, and correctly
  • As needed, coordinating with offshore creative studio, local and remote designers, copywriters, freelancers, vendors, and internal creative directors to route and produce creative + digital projects
  • Engage with cross functional teams to monitor project progress and ensure all work is on time - stepping in to solve potential issues and roadblocks Lead and facilitate cross functional team meetings Maintain and organize shared folders and portals Provide regular updates via IM/ email/meetings on program and project health
  • Regular engagement with Sr. leaders
  • Have a roll up your sleeves and get it done attitude – it is not enough to have great ideas, you must be able to get stuff done Playing well with others is a must. We work as a team and have no room for egos
  • Be able to cultivate relationships inside and outside the organization
  • Work independently on a small team with a tremendous amount of responsibility
  • Be able to work in a dynamic environment where new projects pop-up often
